Beats on the Green

As part of our efforts to speak to more young people and understand how we can improve the night-time for them, we are putting on a live music event this Saturday.

Date: 21st of September

Young people - Tell us what you think about the night time

As part of this event, the Council is trying to learn more about what young people experience in Richmond at night (after 6pm) - are there enough things for you to do? Is there anything you would love to see more of that is currently not available here? Please let us know and see what ideas we have so far by following this link.

About Basement Door

At Basement Door our vision is to see young people empowered and facilitated through learning and performance to enhance their employability within their local community.

The wider picture is to see the community come together to support our work with young people and to put us in a position where we can plant similar projects in other areas.

The first draft Night Time Strategy for Richmond Borough has been launched

We are pleased to announce that the first draft Night Time Strategy for Richmond Borough is now complete and ready for your feedback – we want to hear your views!

Please tell us what you think about our first draft Strategy by either downloading the PDF or clicking through our interactive document here.

As you may be aware, the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames has been developing a Night Time Strategy over the last year to help understand how we can make the night-time (everything between 6pm and 6am) a better experience for everyone living, working, and visiting the borough. This includes diversifying the night-time offer, providing services for night workers, improving safety and pushing for more activities for young people in the borough.

The consultation will run until 30th September 2024 and we are keen to hear your thoughts.

Please share with all your networks!

We’ve been consulting...

Since launching the Time to Shine: Night Time Strategy for Richmond Borough consultation, we’ve collected over 200 responses online and have been attending and hosting various meetings with community groups across the borough to gain feedback.

The Strategy will cover all aspects of the night time, from transport and lighting to shop fronts and safety, and provide recommendations for improvement. We are particularly interested in conditions for night workers, minority groups, women, young and older people, and anyone else that feels excluded after dark.

We’ve spoken to Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College, Ruils Independent Living, the Richmond Interfaith Group, night time employers and carers to understand how these communities / workers use the night and what is important for us to improve.

The consultation will be open until September 2023, and in the next couple of months we will be reaching out further to engage more community groups and workers in the borough that are impacted by the night.

If you haven’t already, please leave your feedback on our interactive mapor our quick survey and tell anyone you think would be interested too.

If you have any recommendations for groups to speak to or would prefer to leave your feedback via email, feel free to send us a message at NTSRichmond@Richmond.gov.uk
